Yvette Dostie (95) died September 30 in Punta Gorda, Florida. She was the third of seven children, born in Lewiston, Maine on December 12, 1929 to Napoleon and Bernice (Guite) Boucher. She was a graduate of Edward Little High School in Auburn; in 1949 she married Jules Dostie and together they raised six children, grew the family jewelry business and retired to Florida.
Ever active in her community and the Maine jewelry industry, Yvette also ice skated, skied, sailed, built stone walls, hosted dinners, read bedtime stories, made creton, drove a governor’s campaign van, panned for gold, mined for tourmalines, became a stained-glassartist, rocked grandchildren to sleep, and made innumerable friends. She lived a full life.
Yvette is predeceased by her husband Jules, her son Thomas, daughter-in-law Jill Victor, brothers Roger, Laurence and Perley, and sister Lillian Goldsmith. She is survived by her sister Lorraine Belanger, her brother Paul Boucher, her sons Paul (Karin McIlvaine), Jacques (Diane), Daniel (Susan), Jules Jr. (Holly), daughter Mary Dostie-Ladd, daughter-in-law Lynn and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at the Katharine Drexel church in Harpswell on June 5, 2026 at 10:00.
