He is survived by his children, Belinda Asbury Noble of Cape Coral, Florida, Terry Asbury (Waynette) of Estancia, New Mexico, Sandy Meyer Hood (Mike) of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Paula Meyer (Jim) of Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. Sister Patsy Farley Pettry of Henry, Illinois. Five grandchildren, Jeffrey Lusk (Tyla) of Fort Myers, Florida, Gary Lusk of Cape Coral, Florida, Sandy Asbury Metcalf (Joel) of Epsom, England, Katie Hood of Asheville, North Carolina, and Michelle Hood of Boone, North Carolina. And many great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. He is preceded in death by his spouse, Catherine Farley, his parents, Azel and Essie Farley, and his siblings, Louise Farley Burnside, Azel Farley, Jr., Mildred Farley Cantley, Adolph Farley, Peggy Farley Rizzuto, and James Farley.
Teddy was born in Rock Creek, West Virginia January 3, 1934, to Azel and Essie Farley. He graduated from Marsh Fork High School and then enlisted in the Army. After the military, he worked for General Motors in Cleveland, Ohio. Teddy rose to lead fellow workers and retired after 30 years of service.
While at GM, Teddy met the love of his life, Catherine Candler. After retiring, they moved back to where he was born, and they built their dream home. He also farmed the land and raised cattle. Teddy and Catherine's home became the location for the Memorial Day Farley reunion, where we enjoyed motorcycle riding, horseshoes, and just playing in the creek. A big part of those memories were Teddy's stories told in a witty manner only he could pull off - truly one of a kind.
Teddy was quite the character. He was known in his youth for driving the winding roads of WV faster than anyone around. Throughout his life he made an impression on those that he met with his one-liners and charismatic mannerisms.
Teddy and Catherine always loved Florida and became "snowbirds". Eventually, they made the sunshine state their permanent home.
He was an outdoors kind of guy. He enjoyed taking his motorhome for vacation to the beaches and the mountains with his family. One of his favorite hobbies was deer, squirrel, and turkey hunting with his brothers, nephews, and friends in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia. He also loved fishing and boating. He and his daughter Paula went on several deep-sea fishing adventures in Florida. He enjoyed watching and going to the NASCAR races. And he enjoyed western movies and country music.
Teddy was a proud member of the Shriners International, Fraternal Order of Police Organization, Eastern Star Masons, UAW (United Auto Workers), American Legion, and the Elks club.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the following: Cancer Foundation https://www.cancer.org/, Alzheimer's and Dementia programs, or Rebecca Chapel in Rock Creek, West Virginia.
There will be a memorial in Rock Creek West Virginia, during the Memorial Day Weekend in May 2026.
