Steve Kent Reager, of Punta Gorda, Florida departed this world on April 7, 2022. Steve was born in Bremerton, Washington. Throughout his life, he lived in the states of California, Virginia, Illinois, and Alabama. He was 69. Beloved husband to Marcia Ann For 42 years and loving father to Melissa (Brad) Lerner, of Sarasota, Florida, Nydia Stafford, of Punta Gorda, Florida, Kari (Brad) Ruth, of Wilmette, Illinois, Alicia (Ben) Cirrincione, of Wilmette, Illinois, Jacinda (Jeff) Jozefiak, of Punta Gorda, Florida, Joshua Reager, of Punta Gorda, Florida, and cherished Papa to Brandon, Haley, Alexys, Zach, Hunter, Alivia, Jacey, Maddie, Will, Jackson, Jaya, Mason, and Jordyn. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law Betty Conway and his best Cat friend Smokey Joe. Adored and loving father and grandfather with a heart that touched many. Loyal friend to all and the Rock star of all our hearts.
Steve’s lifelong passion was music. Beginning during his time as a student at Charlotte High school where he later graduated Class of 1971. His first band was Sweet Revenge, followed by Hat Trick, Buckwheat, Southern Sun, Steve and Phil Duo, Dreamer, and OHM. The culmination of his years in music led him to his most recent endeavor Swamp Brothers @ Katzpell Woods Recording Studio.
Working 39 years in Charlotte County Public Works, Steve retired as Chief Right of way Coordinator in 2015.
He was predeceased by his father Marion Reager in 1997, mother Helen Reager in 2005, sister Claudia Steiner in 2016, and his father-in-law William Conway in 2019.
Steve was a spiritual, gentle soul who valued love and peace overall. He never knew a stranger and was one of the rare few men who would always embrace you with a hug. To know him was to love him. His love was so big that in the end, even his heart could not contain it. His love ran deep and was complete. His family is taking comfort in the knowledge that Steve is now at peace and is surrounded by light.
A celebration of life will be held on June 11th, 2022. Information can be found on a Facebook page created by his family titled Love 2 Remember & Remember 2 Love ~ Steve Reager. The family would also like to encourage people to share memories, stories, or photos to the Facebook page and keep a lookout for updates for Charities to donate to in lieu of flowers.
