Paul Shields, 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 31st in Port Charlotte, Florida. He was born in Delbarton WV and graduated from Matewan High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1954-1958 aboard the USS Saipan and USS Saratoga. He was married to his wife, Berniece (Eversole) on December 24, 1961. Paul was employed by the Ford Motor Company in Sandusky for 30 years, retiring in 1996, when they moved to Port Charlotte, FL. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, metal detecting, playing cards with friends, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Berniece; sons Randy (Liz), Rick (Karen), and Rodney; two grandsons, five granddaughters and one great-grandson; and his sister, Krista (Tom) Atkins of Williamson, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Maxine; and his brother, Howard. Calling hours will be Friday, February 6th, from 5:00 8:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, OH. A funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
