Obituary

Sheralyn Campbell Bechtold, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on June 23, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on July 14, 1946, in Springfield, Massachusetts, she was a bright spark and vibrant soul who graced our lives with her extraordinary talent and unwavering spirit.

Sheralyn pursued her education at The State University of New York studying Psychology and Business, earning a Bachelor’s of Science Degree. Her career as an executive financial recruiter in the bustling streets of New York City showcased her keen intellect and passion for connecting people with their dreams. Along the way, she also ventured into entrepreneurship, owning the beloved Marshfield Hills General Store, in Marshfield Hills, MA, which she later sold to actor Steve Carell. In her book, *My Life at the Marshfield Hills General Store*, she captured the essence of her cherished community and the simple joys of daily life.

Beyond the world of business, Sheralyn’s love for the arts shone brightly. A gracious spirit with a voice that could light up any room, Sheralyn’s passion for singing ignited in her early childhood, leading her from the unforgettable moments of singing “I’m a Little Teapot” in kindergarten to the illustrious stages of Manhattan Opera and Leiderkranz in the 1970s and ‘80s. As time went on, she was instrumental in founding the Mixed Company Vocal Band.

Her life was a beautiful mosaic of creativity; she actively participated in regional theater as an actress, director, and producer. She later created the theater company, Stetson, with her dear friend Derek Stearns, always thinking of ways to bring enchanting productions to life. Ever the adventurous spirit, she also enjoyed boating, learning and living her passion as a certified yoga instructor, and always striving to inspire and uplift those around her.

Sheralyn and her devoted husband, Robert Bechtold, married on July 29, 1995, in Scituate, MA. Upon retirement, they traveled extensively throughout the western United States, Mexico, and the Bahamas, sharing her experiences through her popular travel blog, Starboogie.com. In 2011, she and Robert made Punta Gorda, Florida, their home, while keeping a summer home in Scituate. Here, Sheralyn continued her artistic endeavors, writing with her cherished Peace River Writers Group. She also wrote the program notes and many additional informative articles for the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra’s “Tempo” magazine and joined the Acoustic Club in Punta Gorda Isles, where her beautiful voice was embraced by a predominantly male group of musicians.

Sheralyn is survived by her beloved husband Robert, her cherished son Adam Campbell and his wife Erin O’Donnell, her delightful grandchildren Moira and Luna, and her stepchildren Robert Bechtold Jr., Kristen (Bechtold) Bergan, and Kimberly (Bechtold) Beana. She will also be remembered with fondness by her siblings Chelsea LaCourse, Corynne Kluthe, Jennifer Holder, and Justin Moultrop.

Sheralyn was the cherished daughter of the late George Moultrop and Florence Campbell.

In honor of Sheralyn, a celebration of her life will be held, allowing friends and family to gather, reflect, and share their favorite memories of her. A Gathering of Family and Friends will begin at 4:00pm on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at the Life Celebration Center of Punta Gorda. The service will begin at 4:30pm with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Best Friends Animal Society, https://bestfriends.org/, reflecting Sheralyn’s lifelong love for animals and/or the American Heart Association, https://www.heart.org/.

Sheralyn, a radiant star in our lives, will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will forever resonate in the melodies she gifted us and the joy she spread in every moment of her life.
