Sharon R. Simmons

Sharon Norrick Simmons died in her home in Port Charlotte, FL on November 2, 2024. She will be buried beside her husband Jack in the Sarasota National Cemetery.

Sharon was born on December 19, 1941 in Oakland City, IN, the daughter of Mabel and Hilbert Norrick. Her siblings Sue, Glen and Bill preceded her in death. Her niece, Christi Norrick and husband J.B. Wade also preceded her in death.

She's survived by her nephews, Jeffery Norrick, Greg Norrick, Terry Wallace, niece Kelli Odom, step daughter Laurinda Wade, step son Byron Wade, and granddaughter Brianna Avila.

Sharon received her Bachelor’s degree from Trevecca Nazarene University and her Master’s from Vanderbilt’s Peabody University. Sharon retired from teaching music and relocated to Port Charlotte, FL for her husband, Jack.

She was a long-time member of Oakland City Church of the Nazarene. Sharon served as the choir director for many years and also sang with the Morris Trio. Her beautiful soprano voice will be missed by many.
