Obituary

Sandra Cox Kambour of Punta Gorda, FL died peacefully at her home on April 2, 2026 at the age of 88.

Born in White Haven, PA on April 29, 1937 to John Nelson Cox, Jr. and Geraldine Gertrude Cox, Sandra was the older of two children (brother Gary Cox previously deceased). She spent the majority of her childhood in White Haven, PA and graduated from White Haven High School in 1955. After graduating from high school, Sandra relocated to Montclair, NJ in order to attend the Berkeley Secretarial School in Newark, NJ. Sandra also began working at Ciba Pharmaceuticals in Summit, NJ, where she met her first husband, Edward (Ted) Kambour. Sandra and Ted were married in March,1958; their son Jefrey was born in 1958, their son Gregg in 1960, and their son Eric in 1963.

The family spent its early years living in Morristown, NJ and, in 1963, moved to Chatham, NJ, where they lived for twenty years. Life in Chatham was full of love and laughter and many fond memories - Sandra's sons were very much involved in youth and high school sports, and there were many summer days spent at Minisink Swim & Racquet Club. The family also enjoyed several years of summer vacations in Stone Harbor, NJ and Lake Squam, NH. Sandra was a loving mother who was devoted to her family, and she treasured occasions that allowed the family to gather together. She also took great pride in the decorating and interior design of her homes - the homes that she and her family occupied in Chatham, Morristown, Far Hills, and Punta Gorda were all impeccably decorated!

While living in Chatham, Sandra worked for several years at Roots Clothing Store and, in 1987 began a ten-year career as an administrative assistant at Schering Plough Corp. in Madison, NJ. It was at Schering Plough where Sandra met her second husband, Donald Patton (deceased in 2017). Sandra and Don settled in Far Hills, NJ in 1994 and then retired to Punta Gorda, FL in 1997. Sandra and Don spent many happy years at their home in Burnt Store Marina and were very active in the community and enjoyed boating and fishing. Sandra and Don also were frequently seen at Cass Cay Restaurant where they enjoyed post-boating refreshments -- Sandra could often be found there with a Cosmo in front of her.

Sandra had many close friends, which is a testament to the selfless, kind and considerate approach she took to life. She will be missed!

Sandra is survived by her sons Jef of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Gregg (Heidi) of Palm City, FL, and Eric of Medford, NJ. She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Derek (Maggie) and Lexis Kambour; Kaleigh and Tanner Kambour; and Alex and Sophie Kambour.

Family services will be held privately.
