Ronald "Ron" E. Freeman, 76, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away Friday, August 17, 2012. He was born April 7, 1936 in Bradley, IL to Lillian and Arthur Freeman. Ron graduated from Kankakee High School in 1954 and then began his great work ethic in 1954 with the A.O. Smith Corp in Production/Materials Control/Purchasing. In 1988 he moved to Bensonville, IL to work for Miller Fluid Power where he was Purchasing Agent for 14 years until he retired. Ron served six years in the Illinois National Guard until his Honorable Discharge in 1964. He was a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge #389, Kankakee, IL and 32nd degree Bloomington Consistory, IL. Ron was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Port Charlotte. He was a loving husband, father, avid sports fan (Bears), 1968 Mustang owner and member of the Charlotte County Mustang Club. Ron and Pat moved to Punta Gorda from Schaumburg, IL in 2002, where they continued to be active in Church and Community. Ron will be greatly missed by his loving family and wife of 54 years, Patricia; daughters, Gayle Harvil of Griffin, GA and Jacque Lynn (Scott) Welch of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Bailey and Savannah Harvil of Griffin, GA, Zachary and Taylor Welch of Las Vegas; sisters, Betty Kibbons and Joanne (Joe) Arbour both of Bradley, IL and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bud Freeman and sisters, Audrey Toohey and Leona Boudreau. A memorial service will be 3:00 pm, Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Port Charlotte.
