PORT CHARLOTTE, FL ―
Robert F. Courtemanche, 87, loving and devoted husband and father, passed away Sunday March 31st, 2024, after a brief illness. He was born in Lebanon, NH on December 16th 1936, to the late Percy and Louise (Roberts) Courtemanche. Robert grew up in Hartford, VT with his ten siblings and graduated from Hartford High School, class of 1956. He married the love of his life, Patricia Simmons on June 22, 1957. Robert was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years. Robert was also predeceased by six of his siblings; Pauline Courtemanche, Donald Courtemanche, Raymond Courtemanche, Margery Boucher, Claire Shea, and Roger Courtemanche.
He is survived by his four children, David Courtemanche and wife Annette, Paul Courtemanche and wife Diane, Sandra Colter and husband Blake, and Peter Courtemanche and his wife Christine; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. As well as four of his siblings; Jean O’Neil, Marylin Gates, Walter Courtemanche and Carl Courtemanche.
Robert was a hardworking, caring and devoted family man. He was always willing and ready to lend his extended family and friends a helping hand. Robert worked as an automobile mechanic most of his life. Having grown up a member of a large family with a working farm he also became a self-taught jack of all trades. Robert was a man with a strong and quiet faith. He was a man of few words, his life was a living example of strong family values. His devotion to and care for Patricia during her long illness was a source of inspiration to all. Robert will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
A funeral for immediate family will be held in Florida, to be followed by a celebration of Robert’s life in the Upper Valley at a later date.
