It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Scott Welsh, affectionately known as Bob, who left us on October 17, 2026. Born on February 12, 1961, in Livonia, Michigan, Bob grew up in the heart of the Midwest before moving to Punta Gorda as a teenager, where he ultimately laid down roots and became a beloved member of the community.
Bob married his soulmate, Kim, on November 30, 1985, and together, they built a life rich in love and laughter. An entrepreneur in the construction industry, Bob helped craft the very homes that would become the backdrop of many cherished memories for families in Deep Creek and throughout PGI. His hard work, exceptional craftsmanship, and unwavering dedication have truly left a lasting mark on this town, and his legacy will live on in the homes he built and the community he helped shape.
Beyond his professional achievements, Bob was a devoted sports fan, an extraordinary carpenter, and an enthusiastic lawn care connoisseur. However, the titles he cherished most were those of loving husband, caring father, and doting Papa. Whether he was cheering on his favorite teams, working with his hands, or enjoying moments with family and friends, Bob found joy in all the little things that life had to offer.
He is survived by his beloved wife Kim, his three children, (Bobby) Robert (Brianna), Andrew (Brandy), and Brooke (Jeffery), his mother Joyce Welsh (Jim), and his siblings Robin Ramos (Eddie) and Lance Welsh (Faye). His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Ava, Ethan, Gabriel, Arabella, Aysen, and Daisy, who will carry forward the warmth and kindness that he instilled in them. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Larry Welsh Sr., and brother, Larry Welsh Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Robert’s name to Our Next Mission, an organization dedicated to providing accessible housing for disabled and at-risk veterans, ensuring that those who served our country have a place to call their own.
A graveside service will be held to honor Bob’s life on November 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Royal Palms Memorial Gardens, located at 27200 Jones Loop Rd, Punta Gorda, FL. Following the service, a reception will take place at Beef O'Brady's, 1105 Taylor Road, Punta Gorda at 3:30 PM, where family and friends can gather to share memories and celebrate Bob’s incredible spirit. In recognition of Bob's passion for sports, guests are encouraged to wear apparel representing their favorite sports teams or colors, adding a splash of vibrancy to an occasion filled with love and remembrance.
Bob will be greatly missed, but his spirit will remain alive in each life hetouched, and in the homes he built. Rest in peace, our dearest Bob.
