Richard Casale, 82, of Syracuse, NY, son of Dominic & Phyllis Casale, passed away peacefully in Punta Gorda on Saturday March 2, 2024. He is survived by his sister, Joan Tackley of Skaneateles, NY, and daughters Amanda Nason of Charlston, SC, Lisa Fitzpatrick & son-in-law Peter Fitzpatrick of Punta Gorda, Deirdre Casale of Montgomery, VT, and Elizabeth Maurer of Henderson, NY, with many grandchildren, niece, and nephews.
Richard attended college at Bentley College, studying business followed by the start of his entrepreneur works. He started up and owned dry cleaning businesses in the Syracuse, NY area including The Dry Cleaners in Manlius, Wegmans in Manlius, as well as Artel Cleaning & Tailoring in Syracuse. Dick combined his business skills with his love of Real Estate as a Commercial Real Estate Broker first with Longley Jones, most of his broker time with Egan, wrapping up his broker career at Burlingame.
Dick possessed a passion for life, always active both in Syracuse, NY and Naples, FL. He traveled between his two homes for the past 25 years enjoying his time with family & friends. He was an avid tennis player, happiest on the greens playing golf, always working on his swing, boating along the coast of Naples, followed by savoring a good Italian meal. Many argued Dick made the best meatballs & sauce in the world.
A memorial service will be held this week on Wednesday March 6th at 11:00 at the Mary Chapel of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Punta Gorda (941) 639-3957. A celebration of life will be held by his family in Syracuse in the summer 2024. Due to church lent restrictions flowers cannot be sent to the chapel.
Dick’s sense of humor, strength, & endurance to enjoy life through every challenge, believing in himself and his ability to overcome barriers was impressive both in business and personally. While he admired the independent streak of Jack Nicholson, he will be remembered as doing it my way, like Frank Sinatra. Dick did not practice sacrifice, he instead encouraged everyone to live their life to their absolute greatest potential, with gratitude for the gifts in one’s life. We will carry his lessons in our hearts and miss him.
