Raymond Boomhower, beloved husband, father, mentor, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, at the age of 68. He was surrounded by his loved ones in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Born on May 16, 1957, in Atlanta, Georgia, Raymond was the son of Andrew Blanchard Boomhower and Mary Elizabeth Nist. His family is originally from Ohio. He grew up in Miami and Key West. He also spent a lot of time in Lake Piedmont, Akron, and Canton, Ohio, residing with his Grandma Helen and Aunt Enie.
Raymond moved to Punta Gorda, Florida to build a house and raise a family. He is a loving husband, father, and friend. He is known for his strength, self-reliance, integrity, kindness, wisdom, and great sense of humor.
Raymond is a locksmith and a safe technician. Over the years, he expanded the business to a sporting goods store (Punta Gorda Lock & Key and ABS Guns and Ammo in the Cleveland area of Punta Gorda). He was an NRA Instructor, an avid gardener, good cook, photographer, and absolutely loved the outdoors. He loves boating, fishing, and hunting. Raymond coached Little League, was a member of The Bill Reilly Center and Charlotte Sports Modeler Society.
He leaves behind his wife of 28 years, Riza and their two sons, Asa and Ronald; extended family and friends and Colt and Sage.
His legacy of hard work, compassion, kindness, wisdom and courage will live on through his family, friends and the people whose lives he touched.
