It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patria V. Muniz, who left this world on May 18, 2026, at the age of 78. Patria was born on October 16, 1947, in Lubang, Occidental Mindoro, Philippines. A devoted daughter, Patria selflessly set aside her own educational ambitions after the sixth grade to support her parents in putting her siblings through high school and college. This deep sense of familial duty, coupled with her unwavering faith as a devoted Catholic, defined the essence of Patria's life.
In 1974, she married her beloved husband, Alberto Villarosa Muniz, and together they shared a bond that inspired those around them. Their love and partnership were a testament to commitment and devotion until Alberto's passing. Patria's warm spirit extended beyond her immediate family; she was a cherished mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, loved deeply by many near and far. Her children, Albert (Kelley) Henry V. Muniz and Pamy (Jason) Jean M. Harper, along with her grandchildren, Aliyah Kristie S. Muniz, Xander Alberto S. Muniz, Madison Alyssa S. Muniz, Brandon Alberto M. Owen, and Hayden Cole M. Owen, will carry forward her loving legacy.
Patria's culinary talents brought joy and warmth to family gatherings, while her passion for gardening blossomed into a reflection of her nurturing character. She found beauty in both the earthly and familial connections she cultivated throughout her life, which spanned the landscapes of the Philippines, Guam, Hawaii, Nebraska, and Florida.
Patria is survived by her beloved siblings: Norma V. Apo, Alexander T. Villamar, Alicia V. Elbo, and Maria Luisa V. Tovillo, who will remember her resilience, kindness, and boundless love.
A visitation will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the Life Celebration Center of Punta Gorda, with funeral services beginning at 9:00 a.m., allowing family and friends to gather to honor her memory. A reception will follow the service to celebrate her enduring spirit, share stories, and find solace in remembering a remarkable woman whose love will forever resonate in their hearts.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alberto, and her parents, Francisco Villamar and Valeriana Tameta, but her legacy will live on through the values she instilled in those who loved her dearly. Patria will be missed beyond measure, but the love she shared will remain a guiding light in the lives she touched.
