It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Monica Marie Maule, who departed this world on April 21, 2026, at the age of 47. Monica was born on May 5, 1978, in Detroit, Michigan to Jonathan Maule and Sherry Hornsby, and spent much of her life embracing the beauty of the world around her, ultimately making her home in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Monica was a talented cook whose passion for food was matched only by her love for family and friends. She cherished the simple pleasures in life—sunny days at the beach, music that made her dance, and moments spent surrounded by those she loved. As the youngest of her siblings (aside from her beloved brother Mitch Maule), Monica had a free spirit that took her on countless adventures. She embraced life and encouraged those around her to do the same. 

She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Alexis Greenacre, and her son, Caden Maule, as well as a proud grandmother to her grandson, Nico Greenacre. Monica is also survived by her siblings: Keith Dunham, Pamela Stiglitz, Cheryl Grout, Kevin Dunham, Kelly Maule, Julie Maule, and Mitch Maule. She had deep-rooted friendships from her childhood that she cherished, particularly with her best friends Elizabeth and April. 

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Tim Hornsby, who surely welcomed her with open arms.

Monica's heart was vast, filled with kindness and understanding for everyone she met. Though she was often misunderstood, those who took the time to really know her found a beautiful soul who offered nothing but uplifting words and genuine warmth. Monica will be remembered for her kindness, her zest for life, and her unwavering belief in the goodness of others.
