It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Alice Malveiro, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Maria was born on July 5, 1957, in Santarem, Portugal, to Jose and Fernanda Cruz. She peacefully left us on December 21, 2025, at the age of 68, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and selflessness.
Maria graduated from nursing school in 1979 from Germantown Nursing School in Pennsylvania, and devoted over 42 years of her life to the healthcare profession as a registered nurse. Her commitment to her patients extended far beyond meeting their physical needs; she provided spiritual comfort and support to those in her care, embodying the essence of what it means to be a truly compassionate caregiver.
On September 3, 1983, Maria married the love of her life, Raul Malveiro, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and family. Maria was the proud mother of two sons, Jonathan and Daniel Malveiro, and her heart swelled with joy at the anticipation of meeting her grandson, Jonathan, born in April of 2026. Though she did not have the opportunity to hold him in her arms, her love for him was boundless and unwavering.
Maria will be dearly missed by her devoted husband Raul, her sons Jonathan and Daniel, her grandson, her sister Maria Irene Valinhas and brother-in-law Tony Valinhas, and her beloved niece Nicole and nephew Christopher, and her extended family and friends who were enriched by her loving spirit.
As we celebrate her life, we reflect on the indelible mark she has left on our hearts. Her faith in God guided her every step, and she exemplified the virtues of hard work, kindness, and resilience throughout her life. Maria will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. May her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love continue to inspire.
