Obituary

In Loving Memory of Laura Jean (Herrygers) Keim, 57-years-old, Punta Gorda, FL.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, sister, daughter, Aunt, Niece, Cousin, friend and colleague, Laura, who left this world far too soon after a courageous struggle with breast cancer.

Laura was a gentle soul whose kindness touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She possessed a warm heart, a quick wit, and a wonderful sense of humor that brought laughter and light into the lives of family, friends, and coworkers.

Professionally, Laura dedicated her life to helping others through her work in social services at C.A.R.E. (Center for Abuse and Rape Emergencies). Michigan raised, graduate of Western Michigan University, with multiple Masters, she approached every person she served with empathy, dignity, and genuine care, making a lasting difference in countless lives. Helping people was not simply her career-it was a reflection of who she was.

Outside of her work, Laura embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. She had incredible faith for the Lord. She was a devoted fan of Star Wars and Star Trek, delighting in stories of adventure, hope, and exploration. She loved gathering with family for board and card games, building intricate Lego creations, and sharing laughter around the table. She was enchanted by all things Parisian and dreamed of the beauty, elegance, and charm that Paris represented.

Laura also had a special love for animals, especially her two cats, Sammy and Rolo (Jawlo). Whether caring for her beloved pets, helping someone in need, or spending time with those she loved, she gave of herself generously and without hesitation.

Though our hearts are broken by her loss, we are grateful for the love, joy, and kindness she shared throughout her life. Her quiet, gentle spirit, beautiful smile, and unwavering compassion will remain with us always.

Laura is survived by her loving sons Drew and Palmer Keim, their father Chad and Anna Keim, her parents Ron and Elie Herrygers, her stepfather Eddie McPherson, her brother Ronnie and wife Mary Herrygers, her sister Renee and husband Robert Stincer, her brother Jason and wife Angie Herrygers, her stepsisters Rozi Taylor and Barb Reitz, along with her Aunts and Uncles, her fun nieces and nephews, and her best friend in life, her older Sister Sheryl and husband Dr. James Dorais. She was preceded in death by her Mom Judy Martin McPherson.

She will be missed and loved by all.

Per Laura's wishes, there will be no funeral, but a private memorial held on Laura's birthday in Michigan on July 12, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, a charitable heartfelt donation would be so greatly appreciated to the Empath Angel Foundation for anyone that is struggling to find comfort for their loved ones in their last days, or to the (AWL) Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County to help animals in need.
