Larry Alan Provencal, 70, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on March 20, 2026, in Punta Gorda, FL. Born on March 19, 1956, in Berwyn, IL, Larry lived a life filled with love and laughter, nurturing those around him with his warm spirit and generous heart.
Larry was the son of Elmer and Dorothy Provencal. He married the love of his life, Debora “Deb”, on July 26, 1975, in Eagle River, WI. Together, they built a beautiful life, celebrating over 50 years of marriage marked by deep affection and mutual support. Larry took immense pride in his family, including his children, Eric (Brandy) Provencal, Lauren (Pat) Burke, and Adam Provencal. He was a devoted grandfather to Cierra Gaylord, Justice Provencal (in Heaven), Kailyn Burke, and Brady Popielarz, and cherished his great-granddaughter, Raven Fargo, who brought him endless joy.
Larry moved from Brookfield, IL in 1970 with his family to Punta Gorda FL. He graduated from Charlotte High School in 1974, proudly earning the title of wrestling champion. His love for sports extended beyond the mat; he always cherished the Tarpons and was an unwavering Florida Gators fan. A true craftsman at heart, Larry dedicated his career to the construction industry, serving as a General Contractor Superintendent. His love for building extended beyond his profession; it was the foundation of the life he created with his family and friends. Larry’s achievements were not marked by awards but by the lasting impact he made on those around him. He cherished moments spent outdoors, camping with his family and friends, cooking, and, of course, playing with his beloved dogs, Mollie Bear and Daisy Mae.
Larry is also survived by his loving siblings Jan Stefonek, Cheryl Gross, and Tom Provencal, dozens of nieces and nephews spread throughout the states, and an extended family that will miss him dearly. He had a unique ability to connect with people, leaving behind cherished memories that will be treasured forever.
In honor of Larry’s incredible life, a Celebration of Life and Reception will take place on April 3, 2026, at the Life Celebration Center of Punta Gorda, FL. Family and friends are invited to join together to share stories, laughter, and love in remembrance of this remarkable man. The evening will start with a memorial service at 5:00 PM, followed by a reception until 8:00 PM. Pastor Kenny Butts from Arcadia, FL, will officiate the service, ensuring Larry’s spirit lives on through the stories we share.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County https://www.awlshelter.org/ or any animal shelter of your choice, honoring Larry’s love for all creatures great and small.
Though Larry may have left this world, the warmth of his heart and the light of his spirit will remain forever in our hearts. We invite you to celebrate his life and legacy on April 3rd as we gather together to reflect, remember, and honor the incredible man that Larry was.
We lost our "true warrior.”
