Larry Phillip DeLong Jr. went to be with our Lord on August 20, 2026. He was born in Jackson, Michigan, on March 16, 1964. Larry moved to Florida with his family to North Fort Myers in 1972, where he attended North Fort Myers Sr. High. Larry was a hard-working man, starting at an early age in the construction field. He was an artist, painting, drawing, sculpting, wood carving, and many other creative things.
He is preceded in death by his father, Larry Phillip DeLong Sr., and older brother Ricky Presley.
Larry is survived by his lifelong partner Sonja J. Summerall; her children, Wayne (Beth) Horne and Shari (How) Gauger; her children, Brandon (Ashley), and their three boys, Jaxon, Micah, and Shane Gauger; his mother, Louise Dawn DeLong; sisters Deborah Giampaola, Kathryn Ryan, and brother Eric Delong.
His nephews, Nathan (Keli) Adair, Jeremiah (Angel) Adair. Fritz Ryan (Heidi) and daughter Alexandria Mai Ryan, and Shawn DeLong. His niece Amanda Aldridge (Mike) Hoke and son Keagan, and many friends.
He attended Bayshore Community Church in North Fort Myers and was baptized on June 28, 2026.
His favorite passage from the Bible is:
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.”
Another passage sent for him by a member of the church is:
Romans 14:8
If we live, we live for the Lord
and if we die, we die for the Lord
So whether we live or die
We belong to the Lord.
