Julius Ehland, 85, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2020. He was born on March 10, 1935, to Rudolf and Amanda Ehland in Poland. Julius moved to Punta Gorda in January of 1998 from Malvern, PA.
Julius honorably served in the United States Air Force as a Finance Specialist. Following his service, he excelled in his career as a Microelectronics Engineer, specializing in Aerospace. He worked with corporations such as ITT, GE, Martin Marietta, and Lockheed Martin on projects including GPS, weather, and communication satellites. Julius assisted NASA on solar and wind satellite projects measuring the effect of solar flares on the earth, receiving an award for his performance on these satellites.
Julius loved spending time on the water and after his retirement in 1996, he began traveling the world with his wife Stefanie on several cruises. He was also an avid sailor, once completing a trans-Atlantic voyage.
Julius will be deeply missed by his wife of 49 years, Stefanie; son Haris Ehland; brothers Willi and Erich Ehland; nephews Ralph Niebuhr, Jeffry Niebuhr, and Kurt Ehland; niece Erika (Ehland) Benowitz; and his 2 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Alma Niebuhr.
