Joyce Carol (Gall) Anderson of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away on April 5, 2024. She was born on July 25, 1942 to Henry Thomas and Evelyn Verdena (DeGroodt) Gall in Pontiac, IL. She graduated from Odell High School in 1960 in Odell, IL. She also attended Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, IL. She married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Michael Anderson on August 31, 1990 in Peoria, IL.
Joyce and Robert lived in Peoria, IL for 3 years before moving to Punta Gorda in 1993. She was a buyer for Order of St. Francis for 22 years and active in the Miss Illinois pageant for many years. She obtained a private pilot license with an instrument rating from Bradley Flying Association in Peoria, IL, which is how she met Bob. She was a member of St. Andrew South Golf Club and president of the Women’s 9-Holers. She co-owned Anderson Aviation in Punta Gorda with her husband, Bob, for 6 years.
Joyce enjoyed sailing and sailed from Peoria, IL to Punta Gorda, as well as to the Bahamas and The Keys. She also enjoyed traveling to all 50 states and 5 continents, missing only Asia and Africa in her travels.
Joyce will be deeply missed by her husband of 33 years, Robert Michael Anderson; daughters Margery (Michael) Rosenthal of Groveland, IL and Robin Bellot of Aurora, IL; 1 grandson Tyler Bellot and 1 granddaughter Stephanie Rosenthal; and brother John (Janice) Gall. She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Verden (DeGroodt), father Henry Thomas Gall, and sister Esther Willhoite.
