Josephine Angela Darling

May 17, 1933 — October 29, 2025

Josephine Angela Christofero Darling passed away peacefully at Tidewell Hospice in Venice, Florida on October 29, 2025. She was born the fifth of five siblings on May 17, 1933, in Woburn, Massachusetts, to Antonio and Angelina Christofero. She was predeceased by her siblings Peter Christofero, Jenny Yebba, Tony Christofero, and Marie Cierri.

Josie graduated from Woburn High School, Class of 1950, and began her career as a seamstress in Boston.

In November 1951, she married the love of her life, Frederick Darling, her devoted husband of 68 years. While raising their family, Josie and Fred moved to Ayer, Massachusetts, where they purchased a small metal finishing and printed circuit business. Josie worked wherever she was needed, supporting the business and her husband with unwavering dedication.

After 28 years, they moved to Townsend, MA where Josie was an active member of her community, joining the local Women's Club and volunteering her time generously. Her strong work ethic and devotion allowed her and Fred to retire early and enjoy the fruits of their labor. Together, they traveled extensively exploring Europe, embarking on an African safari, and most memorably, returning to Cortale, Italy, to research her family history and immerse herself in her Italian heritage.

A faithful parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Pepperell, Massachusetts, Josie cherished her time with the church choir and the many friendships she made there. She dedicated her life to her family and community. She was known for her warmth, kindness, and her ability to make everyone she met feel loved and welcomed. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchild, who were the joy of her life.

In 2007, Josie and Fred moved to Port Charlotte, Florida, where her main objective was to avoid the snow and cold at all costs. She embraced the sunshine and warmth, enjoying her retirement years surrounded by friends and family.

Josie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frederick, and her youngest daughter, Doris Peppard. She is survived by her three children: Frederick Darling Jr. and David Darling and his wife Judy, both of Townsend, Massachusetts; and her daughter Angela Wilde and her husband Allen of Port Charlotte, FL.

She also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Bradford Wilde and his wife Jessica of Queens, New York; Christopher Darling of Groton, Massachusetts; Katie Darling Morine and her husband Derek of Lunenburg, Massachusetts; Michael Peppard of Brattleboro,

Vermont; and John Peppard of Orange, Massachusetts. Josie was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Gabriella Wilde of Queens, New York, who brought her immense joy.

Josephine's life was a testament to love, faith, and resilience. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
