John 'Jack' Matthew, 68, of Punta Gorda passed away November 26, 2005. He was born June 12, 1937 in Centerline, MI to the late Alymer and Ella (Singer) Matthew. Jack served in the US Air Force. He moved from Michigan to Punta Gorda in 1983. He was been a handyman in Charlotte County since 1983. Jack was on the Board of Directors of Tropical Gulf Acres Civic Association and was of the Methodist Faith. He loved gardening and playing cards and was everybody's friend. Jack loved his companion dog 'Scamp'. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 40 years, Shirley; brothers Donald (Rose) of St. Clair Shores, MI , James and Kenneth (Sharon) both of Pt. Charlotte; brother-in-law Michael Goodison of North Hampton, MA; along with several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 11:00 - 1:00 pm, Wednesday, November 30 at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services with a memorial service in celebration of Jack's life to follow at 1:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice & Palliative Care/Hospice of SW Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd. Sarasota, FL 34238.
