John E. Hickey

John Edward Hickey, 79, of Punta Gorda passed away Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Life Care Center of Punta Gorda. He was born March 17, 1929 in Chicago, IL. He worked in computer programming also for Community School District #300 in Carpentersville, IL and was a Fire Commissioner in Dundee Township, IL before retiring. John was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 59 years, Joan (Heller) Hickey; daughters, Maureen (Curt) Paulson, Ellen Mary (Joseph) Richard and Alison (Todd) Burnidge; daughter in law, Diane Hickey; sons, Morgan Hickey, Kevin (Kim) Hickey and Brian (Lisa) Hickey; grandchildren, Robert (Emily) Paulson, Jeffrey Paulson, Joseph Hickey, Jonathan Hickey, Rachel (Andrew) Johnson, David Hickey, Elliott Fulton, Gemma Hickey, Katie Hickey, Meghan Hickey and Emmett Hickey; step-grandchildren, Joshua Burnidge, Ryanne Richard and Frank Novello. John was preceded in death by his son, John Edward Hickey II in 2007 and his daughter in law, Kay Hickey. A Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 am, Friday, October 10, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jerry Kaywell officiating.
