James Michael Pridgen Sr. (Mike), a 75-year-old resident of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away on June 5, 2026. Born in Arcadia, FL, on June 13, 1950, to Norma and James Pridgen, Mike lived a life marked by service, dedication, and a warm spirit that touched many.
A proud patriot, Mike joined the U.S. Army on March 17, 1969. He graduated from Airborne School later that year and went on to serve his country with honor, ultimately concluding his military career as a clinical specialist. His time in the service shaped his character and values, and he carried his sense of duty and camaraderie with him throughout his life.
Mike remained closely connected to the veteran community long after his active service ended. He was an active member of the U.S. Paratroopers Honor Guard in the Port Charlotte Chapter and a lifelong member of the 82nd Airborne Division Association. Through these roles, he continued to honor his fellow veterans and uphold the traditions and bonds formed in service. He was a loyal friend to the end.
Known for his kindness and his fun sense of humor, Mike was a man who found joy in both simple pleasures and meaningful pursuits. He enjoyed coin collecting, antiquing, and motorsports, and he spent many contented hours watching westerns. A devoted cat lover, he held a special affection for his feline companions, who brought him comfort and companionship over the years.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Norma and James Pridgen, brother, Lawrence Pridgen, and by his adopted parents, George and Hortense Lundquist, who lovingly welcomed him into their family during his teenage years and played a significant role in his life.
He is survived by his loving children, Constance Underwood and James Michael Pridgen Jr.; his grandchildren, Jonathan and Weston Outlaw; and his adopted sister, Candace Weekley. He will be deeply missed by his family, his many friends, his fellow veterans, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of service, kindness, and humor will be fondly remembered and cherished.
