James “Jim” Calvin passed away peacefully on June 9 at the age of 70.
Born to Katherine and Peter Calvin, Jim spent his early years growing up in California before eventually settling in Punta Gorda, Florida, where he enjoyed his retirement. From a young age, he developed a deep love for the ocean, animals, and movies—interests that remained with him throughout his life.
Jim was known for his wonderful sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh with his endless jokes. He cherished spending time with his family and friends, and his warmth, kindness, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had a gift for making people feel valued, loved, and welcome, and he formed many lifelong friendships along the way.
He graduated from UCLA with a degree in Economics and later earned a Master’s degree in Finance from the University of Denver. Throughout his life, he pursued both personal and professional success with dedication and enthusiasm.
In retirement, Jim enjoyed golfing, boating, and relaxing with his closest friends. He embraced life fully and was often the life of the party, bringing joy and laughter wherever he went.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Wendy Calvin; his four daughters, Lauren, Erin, Kera, and Stephanie; his two grandsons, Charlie and Garrett; and his beloved cat, Linus.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his laughter, kindness, and spirit will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
