James Burton Bennett, 82, passed away on July 23, 2022, at 9:28 a.m. peacefully surrounded by family, listening to his favorite music. James was born on July 16, 1940, to Millie and Leon Bennett in Terry Township, PA. and was from Towanda, PA. James honorably served in the Army as a military policeman.
James was affectionately referred to as “Country Jim” or the “Cookie Man” by those who loved and knew him best. He enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, karaoke, playing cards, and spending time with his family. James and his wife, Linda, were both retired and resided in Punta Gorda, FL.
James will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 44 years Linda Bennett; children Tami Reynolds of Chattanooga, TN, James Bennett Jr. of Bonifay, FL, Stephen (Elizabeth) Bennett of Plano, TX, Kimberly (Mark) Solórzano of Rowlett, TX, Dawn Bennett of Houston, TX, Lori Campbell of Port Charlotte, FL, and Rebecca (Dale) Imhof of Hanover, MI; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
There will be a small celebration of life held for family members and close friends at the American Legion Post 103 in Punta Gorda Thursday, July 28, 2022, from 4-8 pm.
