Hubert Ketterer

Hubert Edward Ketterer, 89, of Punta Gorda, FL and Manchester, N.J., passed away peacefully on December 10, 2015, after a long illness. He was surrounded by family and supported by his many friends. Hub was the son of Ferdinand and Bertha Ketterer, born November 20, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA. During WWII, "Hub" left Seton Hall Prep School to serve in the Navy as a medic. He was honorably discharged in 1946. In 1952, he opened his first Retail Floor Covering business, HUB'S, in Watchung Plaza, and later expanded to 631Valley Rd., Upper Montclair, NJ. In 1992, he retired and became a part time resident in FL. Hub was a member of various N.J. business organizations; Knights of Columbus and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Punta Gorda, FL. He enjoyed bowling, tennis, golf, and traveling with his wife and a close group of friends. Hub will be greatly missed by his wife, Dorothy, of 48 years; daughter, Dorothy; son and his wife, Martin and Therese; son, Joseph: 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by his son, Michael; his parents and siblings. A memorial mass will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Sea Girt, N.J.
