Obituary

Greg Fisher of Punta Gorda, FL passed away peacefully at his home on March 6, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Greg was born August 18, 1962, in Dayton, Ohio to Wilma Barga of Fort Myers, FL and the late Paul Fisher.

Greg is survived by his loving wife of over 36 years, Marilyn (Edmiston) Fisher whom he married on October 29, 1989; three sons Jason (Chere) of Columbus, OH; Caleb (Haley) of Asheville, NC; Nathaniel (Aleksandra) of Asturias, Spain and four grandchildren - Liam, Lily, Luca and Feliks, as well as three step grandchildren; Brianna, Malachi and Asher.

He is also survived by his mother, Wilma Barga, his brother, Brad (Lisa) Fisher, nieces Meagan and Olivia and nephew Benjamin.

Given that Marilyn is the youngest of 11, Greg is also survived and will be missed by many brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews and and even a few great greats, from his wife's side of the family. Greg had a close friendship and many fun times and adventures with all of them.

Greg was a 1980 graduate of Greenville High School. He joined the Navy after high school and served for over 20 years as both an enlisted sailor and as an officer after being accepted into the Enlisted Commissioning program and graduating from The Ohio State University. Greg completed his MBA at the University of Louisville and retired from the Navy in 2001.

Greg served in the federal government for over 20 years as a project manager and branch chief at OPM, DOE and DOI, retiring from DOI in Northern Virginia in 2023.

Greg loved spending time with his family, enjoying the outdoors and traveling the world. Together he and his wife enjoyed many challenging hiking adventures.

Greg wanted to be sure to thank his "wolf pack" prayer warriors who prayed for and encouraged him over these challenging years of cancer treatment - especially his lifelong friend Dale Thomas and his family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ECHO https://echonet.org/

Per Greg's wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
