George G. Crossett, 91, of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2022. He previously resided in Punta Gorda (Windmill Village), Rochester Indiana, and Oak Lawn, Illinois. He was born on September 12, 1930, in Chicago Illinois.
He had an active life. Fishing, boating, camping, hiking, tennis, YMCA workouts, and kayaking were among his many activities. At Windmill Village he served on the Board, was in the sailing club, pool club, woodworking club, played bocce ball, and euchre. Breakfast with friends was one of his favorites!
George was preceded in death by his wife Sharon. She was the love of his life and wife of 60 years. Also, by his much-loved granddaughter Ashley Crossett. He is survived by his children Bruce (Carol) Crossett, Pam Michiels, and Greg (Nancy) Crossett, grandchildren, Dana Ralston (Gavin), Jessica Pollman (Tyler), Nikki Dangman (Ken), Christopher Crossett (Katy), and great-grandchildren, Hayley, Jace, River, Cash, Roman, Dominic, Sloan, Kaden, Greyson, Gage, Emma, and Lucas.
George was a Marine Corps veteran who served during the Korean War. He will be interred at Lincoln National Cemetery in a private ceremony.
Donations to The Ashley Crossett Scholarship Fund would be appreciated. This is a scholarship that will be given to a New Lenox, Illinois School District 210 band member in memory of Ashley Crossett, George Crossett’s late granddaughter.
