Doug passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021, surrounded by his family.
Doug moved to Port Charlotte in 1984 from Virginia, MN. Doug retired as an electrician when he moved to Port Charlotte. He worked for Walmart as a desk clerk in shipping and receiving for 18 years and retired from there. He then became a security guard at Emerald Point Condominiums in Punta Gorda for about 7 years, where he was still employed at the time of his death.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 110 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5690.
He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era.
Doug loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed a good political debate. He loved his dogs, Lucy and Lulu, that they rescued from the Humane Society and his bird Tessa. He would affectionately tell Tessa when she was carrying on that if she wouldn't quiet down he would make Cockatoo stew. He loved spending time with his grandchildren when they would come to visit.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years Rose Marie Pearson. His daughter Sarah Wolosion (husband Bob), his son Douglas A. Pearson III (wife Tonya), his brother Timothy Pearson. His stepdaughter Terry Lemerond (husband Jim) and stepson Tom Giles (wife Julie).
He has 4 grandchildren, Makenzie & Sydney Pearson, Brennan Wolosion, and Erica Fleck. He has two great-grandchildren Myah and Tamra Fleck.
He is preceded in death by his parents Douglas Pearson Sr. and Marie.
Burial Date & Time TBD at Sarasota National Cemetery.
Memorial Donations can be made in memory of Douglas Pearson Jr. to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
