David M.
Tokarski Sr.
December 17, 1948 – June 11, 2026
David Mitchell Tokarski, Sr., passed away on June 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to family.
David was born on December 17, 1948, in Dearborn, Michigan, at Dearborn General Hospital. He met the love of his life, Beckie Tokarski, in early February 1992. After a whirlwind romance of just four months, they were united in marriage on June 4, 1992, sharing 34 wonderful years together filled with love and companionship.
In his early years, David served as a cook with Job Core before relocating to Florida in the 1980s, where he became ASE certified as an automotive mechanic. He worked at various car dealerships throughout Michigan and Florida, building a reputation for his skill and dedication. Following Hurricane Andrew, David, alongside his brother Royce Sheldon and his late brother-in-law Eddie Ball, traveled to Miami to assist in rebuilding efforts—an act that reflected his willingness to help others in times of need.
David had a lifelong passion for cars and could often be found working on them or tinkering with anything mechanical. He enjoyed traveling to Pontiac, Michigan each August to watch the Woodward Dream Cruise. He also found joy in camping, listening to oldies music, and watching his favorite shows, including NCIS, Scooby-Doo, Jeff Dunham performances (especially Peanut), and classic John Wayne movies. A devoted football fan, David proudly cheered on the University of Michigan Wolverines with his trademark “Go Blue!”
He was known for his warm spirit, his ever-present stash of candy and snacks, and his ability to make friends wherever he went. Above all, David’s greatest joy in life was his family. He deeply loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and all those he held dear.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Beckie Tokarski; his siblings, Royce Sheldon (Vicky) and Lynn Ball; and his children: David Tokarski, Jr. (Becky), Tammy Crouch, Erica Herd, Mitchell Tokarski (Tara), Cheryl Lamkin, Frances Hemphill, Tonya Carton (Ryan), Amber Smith (Brian), Natasha DeLoge, Robert Tokarski, Hailey Tokarski, and David Tokarski III; and his fur babies Fred, Wilma, and Rocky. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his son, William Tokarski, father Mitchell J. Tokarski, and mother Evelyn Hardow.
He leaves behind an extraordinary family legacy, including 13 children, 33 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
David will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He touched the lives of many and formed lasting bonds wherever he went. His love for his family was beyond measure, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
