Obituary

Daniel (Danny) Joseph Daczewitz, 67, passed away at his home in Punta Gorda, Florida on July 1, 2026. 

Daniel was born in Wooddale, Illinois, on September 11, 1958. He had a successful career in construction, working as a laborer, carpenter, foreman, operator, superintendent, and eventually building his own business, first specializing in reinforced concrete, then expanding to become a well-known sign and guardrail contractor throughout the Chicagoland area and all of Illinois. His passions included fishing and wildlife, and he loved showing family and friends his favorite spots on the waters around Punta Gorda. 

Daniel is survived by his wife, Dona (Tietz) Daczewitz; his children, Tracy (Dave) Clauser, Tammy Scheer, Trina Crow, Tania Scheer, Marcus, Daniel (Janel), Rebecca (Jerry) Carley, and Jacob; his grandchildren, Thomas, Emily (Justin), Lucas (Sarah), Michael, Holly (Trevor), Aidan, Anthony, Anna, Nyah, Hunter, Edward, Eloise, Daniel, Adelaide, and Henry; and his great-grandchild, Lincoln. He is also survived by his sisters: Gail (Cookie) Wolf, Suzette Campbell, Shelley (Gary) Rogers, Cindy Madison, Jan Daczewitz, Sherree Daczewitz, Kathy (Tony) Flores, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Annette (Rawlings) Daczewitz, and his siblings Hubert (Butch) Daczewitz and Joie Castillo. 

A celebration of Daniel's life will be held at the Johnsburg Community Center 2315 W. Church St, Johnsburg, IL on August 14, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family invites all who knew him to attend and share memories.
