Brian Dale Greig, 71, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on September 11, 2026, after a short battle with cancer. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Brian was born in East Hazelcrest, Illinois, on April 17, 1955, to James (Scottie) and Edna Greig.

Brian is survived by his wife, Eleanor; son Nicholas Greig (Ashley) of Knoxville, Tennessee; daughter Lisa Carr of Port Charlotte, Florida; his beloved grandchildren, Callaghan, Sydney, and Savannah; and brother Terri Greig (Ruth) of Port Charlotte, Florida. Brian will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews, along with so many friends.

He is preceded in death by his sisters Barbara, Janet, and Eileen. 

Brian loved water skiing and was a skilled carpenter; he also loved all things sci-fi. Brian was not only known for his gentle spirit and sense of humor, but for his love of adventure as well. Those close to him knew that any question asked would bring a highly detailed explanation, yet they asked anyway because they enjoyed listening to him and loved it.

When Brian wasn't working or tinkering around the house, he found the time to FaceTime or visit his grandchildren in Tennessee, which brought him much joy, and a recent visit from them gave him so much happiness.

A celebration of Brian's life will be held at a future date to be announced.
