Anne Lee Musselman Blair

May 28, 1935 — August 15, 2025

Anne Lee Musselman Blair passed away peacefully August 15 under hospice care in Port Charlotte, Florida. She was 90 years old.

Anne Lee grew up in Louisville, Kentucky in a household of fun-loving hellions at 2110 Lauderdale Road. Her brothers Tom Sr., David, Robert (Buzz), and Bill, and her sister Elaine (Cissy) Musselman were, and remained, a close-knit tribe throughout her life. Anne Lee was a competitive swimmer and field hockey player at Louisville's Sacred Heart Academy.

Upon graduation from the University of Louisville, Anne Lee went to work as an elementary school teacher at the Fort Knox Base school. There she met Army Lieutenant David Blair: they were married the next year at St. Francis Church and remained inseparable throughout their 66 years together.

Dave took a job in Washington D.C. with Bethlehem Steel; Anne Lee taught physical education at Ursuline Academy in Bethesda, Maryland. They raised four children who still marvel at their beautiful partnership (David, Catherine, Elizabeth and Jane). The family sailed the Chesapeake Bay with Anne Lee patiently and with great humor raising sails, tying knots, minding sunscreen on the kids and cooking meals on a propane stove.

She and Dave made one of their most memorable boat trips when they spent a year traveling America's Great Loop in their trawler.

During one of their trips they discovered Punta Gorda as the place that checked all the boxes and decided to settle there.

Throughout her life, Anne Lee found joy in helping and advocating for others. She worked in administration for Suburban Hospital and hospices in Maryland. Among the many organizations she and Dave volunteered for is So Others Might Eat (SOME). Wherever she and Dave lived - Chevy Chase, Washington, D.C., Annapolis, and Punta Gorda -Anne Lee thrived as a dedicated, tireless volunteer, most particularly with hospice.

Our entire family would like to express love and gratitude for the compassionate care they have received from the staff at Harbor Health at South Port Square and hospice services by Affinity Care of Florida.

It's no surprise to anyone who knew her that Anne Lee became something of a force on her floor, lifting everyone with her daily, ultra-positive energy, devotion to her fellow residents and dance moves.

In addition to her husband Dave and her brothers, Anne Lee is survived by her son David Blair, Jr, daughters Catherine Blair Gibson (Alan), Elizabeth Gifford Blair (Tom), Jane Blair Sickles (Greg), grandchildren Graham, Gabe, Ben, Gretchen and Finn and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Cissy Musselman and brother Buzzy Musselman.
