Paul Ballard was the son of Rae and Barbara (Duchaine) Ballard, born January 15, 1933 in Burlington, VT. Paul served in the US Army during the Korean War. He spent time as a truck driver and traveled throughout the United States; he was an owner/operator of a restaurant as well as a convenience store. Paul enjoyed motorsports and raced stock cars in the 1950's; he was a fan of NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt, Jr, and enjoyed watching tractor pulls as well as horse pulls in New England. Paul moved to Punta Gorda, Florida in 2000 from Arizona. He was also a fan of Bill Gaither and Southern Gospel music. Paul passed away May 10, 2009 at the age of 76 in Punta Gorda and will be greatly missed by his wife of 22 years, Ruth; daughters, Jill (Joe) Barker, Barbara (Bill) Leggett, and Linda Ballard; step-sons, David (Judy) Liskey, Mark Liskey, and Michael (Lori) Liskey; 4 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Robert Ballard. The service in celebration of Paul's life will be at 11:00 am Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Trinity Baptist Church in Punta Gorda.
