It is with great sadness that the family of Mark Kimmins Warner, of Punta Gorda, FL, announce his passing after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at the age of 73.
Mark was born November 23, 1947, in Wheeling, WV, to the late Woodrow “Pop” Warner and Mary Jane (Kimmins) Warner. He graduated from Ohio State University. He was a proud veteran serving as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He spent his career as an airline and corporate pilot traveling the world before retiring from USAir in 2005 and then from Jackson National Life Insurance in 2013. After retirement, Mark realized his ultimate dream to move to paradise and live on the water in southwest Florida.
Mark was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He was a member of the Elks Club for over 50 years. He and his wife attended Deep Creek Community Church. Mark loved boating, fishing, working on and racing his muscle cars, playing tennis, and his dog Charlie aka “Chuck”. He was also an avid Ohio State University and Steelers football fan.
Mark is survived by his loving wife and best friend Rebecca (Laughlin) Warner, whom he married April 5, 1986, and his two daughters Julie (Brandon) Fadel and Maria (Daniel) Deachin. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Dawn Warner, brother-in-law Richard (Martha) Laughlin, and niece and nephews: Cecelia, Nathan, Richie, and Michael Laughlin. Mark was excited to know he was expecting his first grandson (Julie and Brandon) in June 2021.
In addition to his parents, Mark is preceded in death by his brother Jerry Warner and his in-laws Alice (Murphy) Laughlin and Dickey Laughlin.
Mark will be laid to rest at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. The family will hold a private service at a later date.
