Chester A. “Chet” Davis, Jr., 87, of Arcadia, formerly of Elkhart, IN, passed away April 12, 2009. He was the son of Chester Davis, Sr and Ethel (Longenecker) Davis, born December 13, 1921 in Ligonier, IN. Chet was a US Marine serving in the South Pacific during WWII. He worked as an appliance serviceman for Blanton’s Furniture before retiring. Chet lived in the Port Charlotte area since 1961 before moving to Arcadia in 2006. He was a member of the Florida Hi-Lofers and the Peace River and Sam’s RV Clubs; he was of the Protestant faith. Chet will be greatly missed by his wife of 63 years, Raeola; daughter, Pamela Foley of Arcadia; son Ronald Davis of Port Charlotte; sister, Shirley Hoffman of Sierra Vista, AZ; 8 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Ethel (Longenecker) Davis. The service in celebration of Chet’s life will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the Sarasota National Cemetery with the Rev. Kenton Hunt officiating.
